I’m getting better everyday. In an effort to finish those half started, well intended projects, I pulled one out. It’s a Tim Holtz small folio and it’s covered in a paper line by Michael’s. Recollections “Memories Documented”. I bought it with other intentions but that is what happens when you hoard.
I took the folio and created an hinged page insert technique I learned from Kathy Orta..I didn’t go crazy with fold outs or inserts because this album will only expand so much. There are only five pages.
In the past there have been problems with the paper cracking or splitting on the folds. Tim’s tissue tape and washi tapes won’t hold up to the wear. Paper is too heavy. After seeking advice and playing, I took a stencil and sponged on some Archival ink in Potting Soil. Then sponged on Distress Ink in Walnut Stain and Gathered Twigs. To finish and seal it, I swabbed on Micro Glaze. Loved how it turned out. Next time I’ll do the ink technique BEFORE adhering the papers.
Time to start adding the pictures and journal cards. Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for stopping by!
Oh my it feels good to create again. 2016 was a very full year and 2017 is shaping up to be just as busy. We moved again in June 2016, from our rental into our newly purchased home. It’s such a lovely place, we all have space to stretch out in and a quiet neighborhood to enjoy. The view from my studio is a little pond and willow tree. This fall and winter, I get to listen to the geese and watch their antics thru out the day. I looked forward to unpacking, sorting, purging and all the little things that go with making a house a home. Instead suffered a few minor set backs and spent the fall stuck indoors healing from a broken kneecap. Fortunately “Time Heals” rings true and I’m back on my feet and ready to create again. 2017 is bound to be full of creativity, changes and new starts. With that being said, here’s my first attempt back in the studio. A little pocket card set for an upcoming swap. I pulled out the last of my Basic Grey “Figgy Pudding” line and whipped up these little journal cards. This little bunny fella by Catslife Press has been waiting patiently for ink and I couldn’t refuse him. He’s just so cute! Well that’s it for now. But it’s only week one of January, maybe I’ll set some new goals for the year like creating (and finishing) something once a week, or dusting off my camera and shoot something. Who knows but it’s good to create again. Thanks for stopping by and Happy New Year!
